  1. This file contains details of last minute updates not reflected in the manual.

  3. Please note that users of ver 1.0 or ver 1.1 will have to upgrade their
  4. database to ver 3.0 format.  See README.DOS or README.WIN for details on how
  5. to do this.

  8. CDPLAYER  - Version 3.2 (Windows) - 3 April 1993
  9.  
  10. Enhancements.
  11.  
  12. 1       Both the full and small handsets are now sizable by the user.  This
  13.         allows the width and height to be adjusted to compensate for large
  14.         system fonts, used in the title and menu bars.
  15.  
  16.         The browse window is now sizable by the user.  This allows the width
  17.         and height to be adjusted to show more information.
  18.  
  19. 2       CDPlayer now "remembers" the position and size of the handsets and
  20.         browse window so they will appear exactly as you adjusted them on your
  21.         last access to the programs.
  22.  
  23. 3       A button is now provided for the return to the full handset, so the
  24.         small handset does not have a menu bar.  You can also now minimize
  25.         CDPlayer from the small handset.
  26.  
  27. 4       The defined font is now used in the Display Area, ie the LCD, not the
  28.         system font.
  29.  
  30. 5       Play now continues play after a pause, as will pressing pause a second
  31.         time.
  32.  
  33. 6       Requests for file names, on import, export and change database, now use
  34.         standard Open File and Save As dialog boxes.  This enables you to list
  35.         current files and change directories and drives using the mouse.
  36.  
  37. 7       Some cosmetic changes have been made to comply with CUA standards.

  39. Bug Fix.
  40.  
  41. 8       In certain circumstances the system tried to opened the database files
  42.         twice and this could cause a corruption to the data.  This has now
  43.         been corrected.

  48. CDPLAYER  - Version 3.0 (DOS and Windows)
  49.  
  50. A number of new facilities have been added:
  51.  
  52. 1       The number of track fields has been increased to 30.
  53.  
  54. 2       The size of the field holding the track title has been increased to 60
  55.         characters.
  56.  
  57. 3       The database has been rewritten using variable size records.
  58.  
  59. 4       The display of the Disk Record remains as a double list of track
  60.         titles, if the disk contains over 15 tracks, and is presented as a
  61.         single list if 15 or less tracks are present.
  62.  
  63. 5       Data export facilities have been included to write an ASCII file in one
  64.         of two formats:
  65.  
  66.                 Record format - where each field is written on a separate line
  67.                                 and each record occupies a fixed number of
  68.                                 lines.
  69.  
  70.                 CSV           - where the whole record is written on one line
  71.                                 in CSV format.
  72.  
  73. 6       A data import facility has been incorporated, to allow the import of
  74.         data stored in record format.  This provides the facility for
  75.         information to be edited within a database and then brought back into
  76.         CDPlayer.
  77.  
  78. 7       The internal ID created by CD player, which is used to identify the
  79.         disc, is now displayed on the edit record screen.  This is an 8 digit
  80.         Hex string.
  81.  
  82. 7A      A facility has been added to attach an existing record to a disc
  83.         inserted.  Allowing import of data based on keys calculated by other
  84.         programs.  See IMPORT.TXT.
  85.  
  86. 8       The "jump to track 1" button has been changed to allow the user to
  87.         select the track to jump to.
  88.  
  89. 9       The eject button now stops the CD playing prior to attempting to eject
  90.         the disc.
  91.  
  92. 10      Next and Last track options now follow the mode of play and will jump
  93.         to the next or last track in a custom, or shuffle, play sequence.
  94.  
  95. CDPLAYER  - Version 3.0 for Windows
  96.  
  97. 11      A small handset has been incorporated.  This is available as a toggle
  98.         between small and full handsets.  The small handset contains the
  99.         following:
  100.  
  101.                 Disc and track name display
  102.                 Small play, stop, pause and eject buttons
  103.                 Volume control
  104.  
  105. 12      The user can now define the time slice to skip when FF and Rew buttons
  106.         are pressed.
  107.  
  108. 13      The font used for the disc and track name display can now be edited
  109.         via the configuration dialog box.
  110.  
  111. 14      The Data button has been changed to make it consistent with the other
  112.         buttons.
  113.  
  114. 15      A number of changes have been made to the menu structure to make them
  115.         comply with accepted Windows conventions.

  118. CDPLAYER  - Version 1.1 (DOS)
  119.  
  120. A number of new facilities have been added and the wording on the handset
  121. display has been changed, as follows:
  122.  
  123. 1       The size of the field holding the track title has been increased to 40
  124.         characters.  The display of the Disk Record remains the same, but the
  125.         track entry field will scroll if you enter more than 25 characters.
  126.  
  127. 2       The name of the current disk and track title is displayed along
  128.         with the handset. (Can be suppressed with a command line option "/S").
  129.  
  130. 3       A new "button" has been added to jump to track 1 of the CD.  This
  131.         button operates in both stop and play mode.
  132.  
  133. 4       A new play mode has been added, Shuffle play.  In this mode the tracks
  134.         are shuffled into a random order and then played.  If repeat is on
  135.         the process is repeated after all tracks have been played, but they
  136.         will be reshuffled into a new order each time the process is repeated.
  137.         The shuffled order of the tracks is displayed on the Record Screen.
  138.  
  139. 5       All CDPlayer buttons now have an alpha key associated with them:
  140.  
  141.                 7/S     Stop
  142.                 8/I     Pause/Interrupt play
  143.                 9/P     Play
  144.                 4/L     Last track
  145.                 5/C     Play again from Current Track
  146.                 6/N     Next track
  147.                 1/B     Back 30 seconds

  149.                 3/F     Forward 30 seconds
  150.                 ./G     Goto track 1

  152. 6       On screen volume and balance control have been added.  A scroll bar is
  153.         displayed at the right of the handset indicating the current volume
  154.         and at the foot of the function keys indicating the balance between
  155.         left and right speakers.  Press up arrow or "+" to increase and down
  156.         arrow or "-" to decrease volume.  Press Left and right arrow to adjust
  157.         balance and "*" to centralize this control.
  158.  
  159. 7       Mouse control of handset.  The mouse is now active when the handset is
  160.         displayed.  Click on any button, or the arrows to invoke the control.
  161.         Clicking on the balance bar will centralize the control.
  162.  
  163. 6       To accommodate the above, the handset description of play selection
  164.         has been changed, and the function key has been changed.  It is now:
  165.  
  166.                 "M"  Play Mode.
